I usually go and start finishing off a work in progress, the new idea bubbles away and I have to put aside the work in progress to start the new project.

When my head is swirling full of ideas then i’m in serious danger of trying to combine all these ideas into one item and producing something hideous:). For me the best way to stop that is to get out of the workshop and go into the kitchen and have a big baking/cooking session. Gives me time out to think about what to do and satisfies my urge to make things by actually producing something useful – food for the family!

it sounds like you could live near me! we’ve been waaaay below zero all weekend, so today’s 0 degrees feels like a heat wave!!

i usually lean on some boring craft project i’m in the middle of (like a knit one row purl one row blanket i’m doing) a mindless something that keeps my hands busy, but frees up my mind to think about attacking a more creatively challenging project. but i do find it EXTRA hard to motivate when i’m freezing. good luck!!

As soon as you figure it out write a book about it, you’ll be rich.

I just force myself to do 15 mins at least. Anyone can do 15 mins and then you sometimes end up staying longer. And bribing myself with chocolate always works.

Umm… what do I do when that happens?! That’s my everyday LIFE. 1,000,001 great ideas. So little motivation to do them. I think I’m afraid I won’t be able to pull them off like I want to.

I write them in a journal! Helps me organize my thoughts and figure out all the details of all the millions of things I want to do.

    Hello Elsie,
Can you tell us when we will know about the partners ? do you send each one an email with the notifications or should I go look myself somewhere (where on that case ?)
    Thank you very much.

i have been surfing everyone else’s crafty sites, trying to inspire myself to get off my bum and make something! this cold weather is making me lazy.

    Hi Elsie,
Is it normal that I did not get my partner yet? I really want to make a mobile…I already have my concept!!! Thank you and have a nice day.

by the way, I don’t have a partner for the swap either… and I thought I signed up in plenty of time. Thanks, Tammie

Must be in the air. Instead of actually working on all of my ideas I spend an inordinate amount of time surfing all the cool, inspiring, creative blogs out there. It seems to be working really well as a procrastination tool and as fuel for more great ideas to clog up the already clogged up production line of ideas that never get done…..

i have the same problem! i’m glad i’m not the only one that has what i call “creativity attention deficit disorder”. all day at work i dream about the things i’m going to create, but then i get home i’m tired and end up reading blogs or watching tv. around 9pm (and after a few glasses of wine), i get the creative bug but then it’s too late to do anything fun. or i gather all my supplies and then get distracted and never start. i guess it’s just going to take some discipline. or requiring that i set a timer and just do 30 minutes. otherwise my mobile will never get done! oh, and it’s very cold here right now in minnesota, and that saps the energy. i am so looking forward to spring – the fresh spring air helps get me going…

I’m very late in saying HURRAH, I’m looking forward to this. will head over to flickr and sign up. Thank you for orchestrating this. And love the photo. Joke false teeth and flowers, such a classic combination.
